I am reading the story of Asel with an estonishment I cannot express. I am Hungarian and I also live in my home country where we have very controversial public views on migrants but now I sense that the situation is not much better in Austria either. I have read a dozen of that hateful comments but perhaps it would have been better no to do so. I don't want to simplify the case, I know that the contradictions we are struggling with outside are inner realities in all of us. However in the moments of the terrible shocks like now when I must face the depth of the cruelty we are able to go down I am really afraid of myself as a citizen of Europe. I see how irrealist we - human beings - can be while I don't beleive having a base to consider myself as an exception to that Perhaps not in this field but there are so many other territories where one can be totally dim Who will tell me where exactly I behave with the same moral quality than the authors of that 30 000 comments.here?
Megdöbbenve olvasom Asel történetét, akkorra döbbenettel, hogy azt el sem tudom mondani. Magyar vagyok, Magyarországon élek, ahol nagyon ellentmondásos a menekült kérdés megítélése, de látom, hogy a helyzet Ausztriában sem sokkal jobb. Elolvastam néhány tucatnyit a gyűlölködő kommentekből, de lehet, hogy jobb lett volna, ha nem nem tettem volna meg. Nem akarom leegyszerűsíteni ezt az esetet, tudom, hogy az ellentmondásokat, amelyekkel kint küszködünk, mindnyájan magunkban hordozzuk. Mégis, azokban a megrázó pillanatokban, amikor szembesülnöm kell a kegyetlenségünk mélységeivel, megijedek magamtól, mint európai polgártól. Látom, hogy mi emberek mennyire el tudunk tévedni, miközben semmi alapom sincs arra, hogy magamat ebből a szempontból kivételnek tekintsem. Talán nem ezen a területen, de hát annyi egyéb dologban lehet az ember tökéletesen elborulva! Ki mondja meg, hol viselkedem ugyanazon a morális színvonalon én is, amely az említett 30 ezer kommentelő eljárását jellemzi?
